Virginia Resident and Nonresident Individual License Renewals
The Virginia Bureau of Insurance offers online license renewal services for individual resident and nonresident Consultants, Surplus Lines Brokers, and Viatical Settlement Brokers. These licenses are to be renewed online by June 30th regardless of when the license was issued or the license will be non-renewed/canceled. Compliance Express processes the renewal payment and provides confirmation of the transaction. At the time of renewal, licensees can update their address and email address as well as attach any required documents for renewal. To renew your license, click on the "Renew your individual Consultant, Surplus Lines, Viatical Settlement Broker license" link located in the column on the left side of this page.
Virginia Continuing Education Filing Fee
The License Continuation reporting/processing service is used by all resident and non resident major lines producers and consultants to submit their one-time $15.00 continuing education filing fee. This fee must be paid each biennium so that the required CE credits can be applied for compliance. Nonresidents are required to submit the $15.00 filing fee even though they are not required to complete Virginia CE. Nonresidents may begin to pay their fee 180 days prior to the end of the biennium. To pay your Virginia CE filing fee, click on "Pay 2009-2010 $15 CE Filing Fee" link located in the column on the left side of this page. Additional CE information may be reviewed at www.virginiainsurancece.com.
Free CE Transcript
You may now check the status of your continuing education compliance. For a free continuing education transcript, click on "Look up Education Courses/Credits" in the left-hand column and then click on "Continuing Education Transcript Inquiry."
On-line Licensing Services
Virginia has opened on-line licensing services following its transition to using Sircon for States' web-based solution for administering insurance licensing services.
The following services are now available through Sircon:
As of September 5, all Virginia active licenses were converted to a newly assigned single License Number. The new license numbers can be identified using the "Find Your License Number/NPN" link in on this page.
Additional license applications will become available through Sircon in the future, and subsequent notices will be sent as those additions occur.
The move to Sircon dramatically increases the online services Virginia provides to insurance carriers, agencies and producers across the country, enabling customers to connect with the Virginia Bureau of Insurance 24 hours a day.
