Conversion Completed for California Producer License Types and License Qualifications

The California Department of Insurance (CDI) has converted specific producer license qualifications and producer license types to provide uniformity with standards in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Producer Licensing Model Act (PLMA).


The changes and service interruption are detailed in the state's notice at https://www.insurance.ca.gov/0200-industry/0120-notices/#serv2.


No action is required on the part of licensees. Updates have been made to licenses and prints of the new license types and qualifications can be made at http://www.insurance.ca.gov/0200-industry/0075-print-lic/.

California conversion to Sircon enhanced online services

Enhanced online services will be provided by Sircon, powered by Vertafore, and available starting Monday, August 19, 2019

New licenses numbering: Licenses issued through Sircon's online enchanced services will issue an eight-digit numeric license number starting with the number 4 for individuals (example, 40000001) and 6 for business entities (example, 60000001). License numbers for existing California licensees will remain unchanged (example, 0A12345) and additional licenses added to an existing license will retain the same number.

How do I check the status of my license application or license renewal?

License application and license renewal transaction status can be checked using the Check Status of License Application or Renewal service. For California, you may get detailed information about your license application by going to http://www.insurance.ca.gov/0200-industry/0038-CLASS/.

Do I need a Sircon for Individuals account?

Currently, you only need an account to process an address change request. All other online transactions can be processed through www.sircon.com without creating an account.

Do I need an account for my agency?

To process a license application, license renewal, license prints, address changes and letters of certification, a Sircon account is not required at this time. These transactions cans be processed through sircon.com. An account is required for business entity name approvals and endorsements/terminations. With an account, you can also process online transactions on behalf of individuals in your agency.

What is changing for endorsements (affiliations/associations)?

Endorsements (affiliations/associations) will require an account to be set up on sircon.com. Endorsements and terminations can be processed within an AgencyEDGE account.

Will we still be manually uploading our reports for our students' completion?

Yes, course completions (rosters) can be entered on sircon.com or uploaded via a CSV format file.

Will the file structure continue to be the same as what is used within our EPOP online reporting system?

No, the upload file format will be the same as it is available for other states on sircon.com. This file format is different than the EPOP format.

If not, may we have the details on the process so we can adjust accordingly?

Instructions for submitting via both methods are included in the help file of the course completion upload page. A blank CSV file and data key are included at the bottom of the article.
